USAID Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) Program
The Transition Initiatives for Stabilization (TIS) program is funded by USAID and responds to the complex crisis that has evolved in Somalia.
The overall program goal is to mitigate conflict; to promote stability and community cohesion, and to strengthen citizens’ relationships with government officials.
TIS implements quick impact activities linked to longer-term stabilization goals. The TIS program is currently seeking a skilled, diplomatic, effective, and highly motivated Database/Grants Manager.
The Database/Grants Manager will directly report to the Senior Grants Manager with significant communication with the Information Technology Manager, Will support TIS achieve its objectives in Somalia by producing and disseminating information, which is then classified into a database.
The Database/Grants Manager is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the USAID TIS Activity Database as well as uploading of the database to an agreed web-based sharing platform and downloading of database updates on a weekly basis, or as necessary.
He or she also works with a team of grants and program staff to ensure activity implementation. This includes travelling to the field.
At the request of the Operations Manager and the Senior Grants Manager, s/he will ensure that database update protocols are created, revised, compiled and disseminated on a regular basis. Qualifications and skills sought:
  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or appropriate field.
  • Two to three years’ experience working in Information technology, in a computer support position, preferably with an NGO or any organization doing international development work.
  • English and Somali language fluency required.
  • Experience working in a complex and challenging field environment.
  • PC and server support experience, especially with Windows Server and Windows Client operating systems.
  • Experience or basic knowledge of Lotus Notes Client Administration, and replication within a WAN.
  • Good knowledge of computer hardware and software theory.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office applications, Lotus Notes, Windows operating systems
  • Experience in data security.
  • Previous experience working in Somalia highly sought.
  • In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform assigned and additional duties and work irregular hours under unpredictable conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to manage a diverse range of professional relationships essential.
  • Honesty, confidentiality and integrity required.
  • Cultural Sensitivity.

Geographical Information System Specialist (to be based in Nairobi)
The Geographical Information System (GIS) specialist role will be to establish a GIS system for World Vision Program, build staff capacity in Collecting GIS data, building and updating geo-database.
He/She will also publish program areas atlas that present comprehensive view of natural conditions and socio economic activities as well as project sites.
Implement Web/Internet based GIS for the organization for access by all the stakeholders and donors Sub Branch People & Culture (Human Resource) / Administrative Officer (to be based in Kitale) To support the Sub branch staff with People & Culture (Human Resource) and Administrative functions so as to enhance  service delivery of Sub branch offices and ensuring smooth flow of work.
Work closely with the People & Culture national office to provide HR support to the Sub Branches.

To join its Regional Support Office in Nairobi
The European Commission’s Directorate General ECHO, is the European Commission Department responsible for financing humanitarian assistance and civil protection.
ECHO finances a range of partners, which include NGOs, UN agencies and the Red  Cross Movement, to provide assistance to people affected by both natural and man-made disasters.
The ECHO Office in Nairobi is a dynamic, multinational hub, providing technical support to ECHO’s operations in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa. This position is a national staff position.
1. Duties & Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant (PA) will work in the Regional Support Office for East, Central and Southern Africa, and will assist  ECHO to provide high quality technical advice and support to ECHO’s field offices throughout the region, with a particular focus on ECHO’s disaster risk reduction assistance activities.
The PA will be required to assist in assessing; analysing & following up ECHO funded projects; gathering & consolidating  technical information; as well as contributing to strategy and programming.
The PA position may require significant travel throughout the region.
2. Required Qualifications
  • A minimum of five years work experience in the humanitarian sector, a relevant university degree would be an asset;
  • Relevant professional and technical experience in disaster risk management;
  • Good knowledge of international NGOs and UN aid agencies is an advantage;
  • Work experience outside Kenya in an international setting is an advantage;
  • Good understanding of humanitarian issues in Eastern, Central and Southern Africa;
  • Thorough knowledge of Logical Framework Approach and Project Cycle Management.
3. Required Skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken – English is required. A working knowledge of French is an added advantage.
  • Personal initiative; ability to work both independently and in a team, with ability to set priorities, and to work to tight deadlines;
  • Demonstrated analytical capacity, and drafting ability;
  • Commitment, determination, reliability and a high degree of personal integrity & discretion;
  • Ability to analyse and process information;
  • Ability to clearly and concisely convey information to others.
